Day 36

8 February 2013

Today we had to get up early as we had booked in the car to be serviced. Dropped the car off and decided we would just walk around the nearby shops and shopping centre in the hope that it wouldn't take too long to service.

Shops are not too interesting in Rosebud, just the normal ones so was a bit of an eventful morning. Few suspects getting about, making it not a very safe feeling getting around on foot. Picked car up and headed to our next "attraction" - Moonlit Sanctuary at Pearcedale. It is about a half an hour drive from Rosebud and in the sticks a little bit. Normal entry price is $17.50 plus if you want to meet a koala it's an extra $10, our pass included both. They give you a map to show you where all the different animals are.

I don't know what it is with zoos but every time I go to them something happens with my camera situation! At Aus Zoo I bought the camera but forgot the battery! And here I bought two cameras but both batteries were flat and my phone was flat also! Joel luckily had 27% left on his phone so we could at least get some pictures.

Now let me tell you this is no Aus Zoo and I think I would have been a bit disappointed if I had paid the full money to come here but they are doing what they can I suppose. Best parts....feeding the wallabies, they were cute and cuddling blue gum the koala was my main reason for going here! There was an American who kept saying "oh look at the koala bear," and it took all my effort not to break into a rendition of "please don't call me a koala bear, cuz I'm not a bear at all!" Haha

It was soo hot today! 37 degrees! Just relentless really! Not that I'm complaining as it is much better than rain. We headed back to camp for lunch and then went for some driving around Dromana, Mornington and Frankston, took the coast road for some better views than the highway! All nice places and cute little painted bathe huts along the beach everywhere. Frankston is also home to sand sculptures which would be pretty cool to look at if you want to pay $12 each to have a look. By this time it was 6pm and dinner time and Frankston was a little too close to Melbourne! Traffic started to get busy for us country slickers!

Quick chat to the neighbours once home, gave us some more places to visit in WA. They have been to some very remote locations and travelled many times in and around Australia so they were helpful!
