Last day in Airlie : (, we are dreading going back to the tent tomorrow night! Haha This morning there was some painters lurking around wanting to paint the staircase near our apartment so we thought we better go out and let them do it.
Decided to check out Cedar Falls just outside of Airlie today as had read that they can be pretty spectacular and you can swim at the bottom of the falls also. The turn off to Cedar Falls is about half way between Proserpine and Airlie and then another 14km down this road. It was quite a nice little country drive and we pulled up at the falls ready for a nice swim and the sound of waterfalls. Clearly we should check our seasons because obviously Airlie hasn't seen much rain for a long time! It was dry as a bone which means the water below is not flowing which means it looks and smells awful which means we weren't going to be swimming! It was a really nice spot though and when the water is actually flowing this would be a don't miss it oppurtunity! We probably could have missed it but it filled in our morning anyway.
Headed back into Airlie to get our swim in at the lagoon. Has been beautiful weather here, just perfect, just warm enough to swim but not too hot that you are dying! Spent a good hour or so soaking up the sun and paddling around the lagoon...pure bliss. Went for a bit of a wander around the shops, really just killing time hoping the painters would be finished. Had some lunch at a health cafe near the lagoon, had a chicken and spicy mayo wrap, banana bread and mango smoothie...not sure how healthy that is but hey!
Headed back to the apartment to find the door taped up and paint everywhere so turns out we had not killed enough time! Only thing to do was to head to the pub and have a few drinks! On our way back from our tour yesterday I noticed the Jubilee Tavern so we headed there for a poke and drinks. Now I know why I haven't played the pokies in a long time! Waste of money!
Back to the apartment for our last night, we watched lots of TV, TV in bed, cooked in the full kitchen, had showers where we didn't have to wear thongs, and before going to bed looked at the pretty lights of Airlie from our balcony one more time.
