Today we left Stokes Inlet to head to a new destination. We loved Stokes Inlet and could have stayed there for weeks but we decided we better keep moving.
There is not much from Stokes Inlet to Cape Riche, it was a fairly boring drive. Most exciting part of our trip was about 20 postman on postie bikes with Australia Post flags waving. Have no idea what they were doing but it was something to look at!
Cape Riche is 18km on a dirt road and when you are travelling down it you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere and are skeptical about what you might find at the end of the road. Again it didn't disappoint, one minute you are nowhere, next minute you are where everyone wants to be! Road just opens up and in front of you is the beautiful blue water and white beaches we are becoming accustom to here.
Camp ground is nicely set out, caretakers are here to show you around and take your money. $10 a night is pretty good in WA. Joel is excited as you can have a fire here as long as you don't collect wood from inside the park. So we spent most of the arvo driving around collecting wood from up the road.
You can have fires from 6-11pm at night, it is now 5.30 and Joel is chomping at the bit to get the matches out and light her up!
While sitting at our camp all these roos started coming right up to us, sort of expecting us to feed them I think. They were getting bit too close for me! But they were nice to look at, there was a few big ones and few joeys which were cool. Here's one sniffing Joel's thong!
You can't get much closer to a roo unless you are in a zoo! Lie down and have a nap in our camp - go ahead.
Nearly 6pm, sun is going down over the view of our ocean here and all we can hear are waves crashing. Time for dinner and some rest.
Carly & Joel
