10th & 11th of April
Yes I am doing it....I am combining two boring days into one post! We left Parry Beach and headed to Conto Campground near Margaret River. This is another national park and relatively cheap to stay but with little to no facilities. Beach close enough to walk but bit of a dangerous spot for swimming and fishing (you know this when there are signs everywhere saying please tie off to the rocks before fishing)! There is only so much you can write about raining days of nothingness, I've done it.
Over and out.
My bestie did suggest I blog about how our budget is going, whether we are finding it more expensive or less than we expected and how we are going living with less things. So to make this blog a little more interesting I thought I can give you a little overview.
How the budget is going?
Wellll I love budgets and spreadsheets but having a budget or a spreadsheet does not mean it is followed! And so far we have definitely not followed it. We still spend like we are working full time, we like comfort and everything has cost more than budgeted. We could have been more strict with our budget but we wouldn't have seen as much or been as comfortable. We are slowly getting better with food shopping and eating out less and being more savvy with cheaper places to stay. It is a learning curve and we think this may be why people go around more than once, cuz it takes that long to work it all out!
Expensive?
Yes! More expensive, I feel like the grey nomads have just created a reason for caravan parks to rip everyone off and for free spots to magically just disappear year after year. Nothing is free anymore, if there is something to be seen you can bet ya bottom dollar there will be a booth selling tickets to see it!
Living with less
I have to be honest here, I'm not sure we are living with less...we still have most things we have at home just on a smaller scale. We do still carry all the modcons but what we have is heaps to live with really, I don't think there is any material items that we miss, if anything we bought too much material stuff that we don't use or need at all and that just takes up space! On another level we miss lots of stuff...family and friends, our puppy, the ease of turning on a tap and having as much water as you want coming from it, long showers, routine, and pulling into a driveway and knowing you're home.
Any other questions let us know.
Carly & Joel
